Film Review: The Glass House
![]() |
The Glass House, starring Leelee Sobieski and others, revolves around a girl (and her brother, I think) being forced to live under the care of some sort of quasi-father figure who is sinister or evil (or maybe even misunderstood?). Either the girl's last name or the sinister father-figure's last name is Glass, which is where the film gets its title from. The house itself is located on a cliff overlooking the ocean and is far from the nearest city. It is, unfortunately, not made of glass, but is very modern in its design, and does feature large windows in place of walls in some places. I don't really remember much of it, but it did have the guy who plays Dr. Phlox in it as a driving instructor. I can't really remember why I ended up seeing this movie, but I was in middle school, so it probably had something to do with Leelee Sobieski being hot. Which paid off as much as could be expected of PG-13 movie, with an extended scene of her swimming scantily-clad in a pool, then discovering she's being spied on by the sinister (step?) father guy. I suppose I should praise the film for its eerie, somewhat tense atmosphere, but not much else. As I recall, it had some fairly predictable twists and was full of very wooden, standard "thriller" characters. I'm guessing someone fell off the cliff at the end of the film. I mean, it seems like someone should've. I can't recommend this movie to anyone really, unless they're dying to see Leelee Sobieski in a bikini… but then again, this is the internet, and if that's all you wanna see I can't imagine it's too hard to find. So yeah, don't bother with this movie. |
